Thanks Kelly, Thanks Jessica. Didn't believe you'd go to the trouble considering I'm in the UK but very grateful that you have.
I went to Welwyn Garden City recently to do a bit of shopping. My son accompanied me and wanted to walk along the top of a particular wall. As he did so I happened to notice this bit of graffiti which even now still makes me smile.
Fortunately it only took two trips to clear the remnants of the shed. It was only as I was about to unload that I realised that I had not take a photo. So hoping I would not draw too much attention to myself I quickly stepped back and took this shot. One thing that I regularly find is that I have the habit of becoming so engrossed in an activity or task, that I give little thought to taking pictures of some of the various stages during the process. In future I must therefore make a more conscious effort to have my phone to hand to capture most if not all of the significant stages of future work that I undertake. As I reflect back on the dismantling of the shed I would have liked a shot with the roof removed and possibly a shot as each of the sides were removed.
Makes me aware that you can only capture the present with a camera.
The load was the first of two that were necessary to clear all the wood away. I have an old ground sheet which i used to line the boot area to protect the car interior and catch any bits and pieces When I reached the container within the Recycling Centre, I had to admire the dedication of the guy who was supervising the distribution of the wood, chipboard etc that was already in there and the way that he had stacked it all to ensure the container was filled to capacity.
I "shed" (should) have posted this weeks ago. Having taken down the roof and sides of the shed I needed to break them down in to smaller manageable pieces, each no more than 3ft long, so that I could load up the car and take them all down to the recycling centre. It was a hot day with quite intense sunshine as you can see from the definition of my shadow, but I had to get that aspect of the done to clear the limited space I have and maintain the programme I had set myself.
As I stood on the platform awaiting the southbound train to take me home, I saw this guy walking down the stairs to the same platform and then stand as you see him now. Where could a man such as this, be heading dressed like that? What might be more disturbing is that he was quite possibly heading in to London to meet with others dressed in a like manner.
Had I been in my car as usual, I would not have viewed such a spectacle. Just one of the joys of travelling by public transport, if you can afford to do it.
This was three weekends ago. You can see one of the ends of the greenhouse that will go in place of the shed. We are keeping the wooden shed base in place. There was a concerned whether the greenhouse would actually go it, fortunately it has almost the same footprint. We had to move the waterbutt slightly. When you do one job you seem to create others - now that the shed has gone it reveals one of the fence panels that was never treated. Given that the greenhouse will be transparent we'll need to paint that now.
It was looking in sorry state. (Notice the bike handlebars from the preceding picture.)
